Rajesh Gangahar — Founder & Artistic Director

Rajesh Gangahar is a passionate theatre artist, director, actor, and cultural visionary dedicated to building a strong artistic community in Calgary through theatre, storytelling, music, and creative education.

His theatre journey began at the age of 20 in Chandigarh, where he worked extensively in stage productions as both an actor and director. Over the years, he participated in and directed numerous theatrical productions, developing a deep understanding of performance arts, stagecraft, storytelling, and community theatre.

After moving to Calgary, Rajesh continued his artistic journey and officially established Shoebox Arts Productions in 2018 with a dream of creating a platform where people from all cultures and backgrounds could come together through art.

Under his leadership, Shoebox Arts Productions has already successfully presented multiple large-scale productions in Canada featuring casts of up to 50 performers. His vision behind large ensemble productions is not only entertainment but also mentorship — giving more people the opportunity to learn, grow, perform, and discover confidence through theatre.

Rajesh strongly believes that theatre is one of the most powerful tools for personality development, communication, emotional expression, teamwork, and human connection.

His long-term vision is to make Calgary a vibrant hub for theatre and multicultural performing arts, where artists and communities from different cultures collaborate to create meaningful performances that everyone can enjoy together.
